Collaborative Process

Twin Cities Collaborative Law Lawyer

At the law office of Harris-Pearson, PA, we understand that family law disputes are difficult for your entire family to endure. Though we handle cases in court if necessary, our firm also offers clients the opportunity to resolve their dissolution or post-dissolution disputes through the Collaborative Process. We discuss clients' options on a continuum, from the most cooperative approach to the most complex litigation approach. Through assessment of our clients' individual situations, we can provide advice and guidance that allows clients to make informed decisions regarding the way in which we pursue a resolution of the issues in their case.

What Is Collaborative Law?

The Collaborative Process is designed to provide assistance to families to resolve divorce and related family law issues with the respect and the cooperation of both sides. By incorporating the long-term vision for the family, we guide our clients through the process of working cooperatively with their spouse (and the spouse's attorney) to establish agreements regarding the contested issues, while minimizing the controversy and stress that these often emotionally-charged matters often cause. It is important that the agreements created be thoughtful and in the best interests of everyone involved. The agreements must also be realistic and workable for the family.

Adding to our firm's ability to confidently and professionally handle cases through the Collaborative Process, is our attorneys' involvement in several legal and professional collaborative law organizations. Attorney Colleen Harris-Pearson is on Board of the Collaborative Law Institute and both Colleen Harris-Pearson and Donna Piazza are members of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals and Minnesota Collaborative Law Institute.

When you Contact one of us to schedule your initial consultation, you can discuss the facts of your specific case. After assessing your situation, we can help you decide if the Collaborative Process is the right process for your situation. Flexible appointment times are available.
